We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Consultant in A&E on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful Emergency Medicine department.

Our client are one of, the largest Trusts in the UK for delivering Emergency Care, where will be joining a consultant team of over 48 motivated and enthusiastic individuals, with a vast breadth of experience delivering Emergency Care, and a wide range of special interests. With over 20,000 members of staff, where you'll be joining a department that offer great flexibility with consultants able to pursue special interests outside emergency care which have included: establishing hospital units abroad; Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine, working at other Trusts & organisations; medico-legal work and working within the media. Furthermore, this department have made great strides in the education, and have extensive nursing, clinical practitioner and medical programmes established. Their aim is to be recognised for their Excellence in Emergency Medicine education. At a trust where there is a Level 1 Trauma Centre and host of the UK's only £20m National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Surgical Reconstruction and Microbiology Research Centre (SRMRC), this is a truly great opportunity for the right consultant

The successful appointee will be asked to fulfil various duties, such as: examine and treat patients in the Emergency Department, support the clinical decision making of all medical and nursing clinicians within the Department. Attend the Department out of hours as per the agreed job plan, support the Department if required to do so in the event of a Mass Casualty, participate in the Senior Medical meetings, which take place on a weekly basis for Consultants and Middle Grade Medical staff & act as Educational and Clinical Supervisors for Junior and Middle Grade Medical staff, including of appraisal and personal development and undertake and supervise relevant clinical audits and /or quality improvement projects
