We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Consultant in Emergency Medicine on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful A&E department.

The appointee will be joining our client, who currently employ 4000 staff and are currently the biggest employer in Norfolk. With a budget of £220 Million, our client provides a comprehensive range of specialist, acute, obstetrics and community-based services. Our clients Emergency Department is a trauma unit within the regional Trauma Network and sees around 68,000 new patients per annum, with a higher than national average rate of attendances from the over 65 population. The department sees the full range of Emergency patients and covers a large geographic area and a population of around 330,000 people. The department is situated at the front of the hospital, near the Radiology department and scanning suites, including MRI and CT, and benefits from excellent clinical pathology, haematology, and microbiology services

The successful appointee will be asked to fulfil various responsibilities within the department, these include: providing senior clinician services to the Emergency Department as per job plan, providing clinical leadership to the department when undertaking clinical care, taking lead clinical responsibility as rostered on a day to day basis, work with consultant colleagues and nursing staff to ensure efficient use of Trusts resources and contribute actively to clinical governance in the department and to development of quality enhancement projects in the unit, actively participate in the Units Teaching Programme and undertake supervision, teaching and training of medical trainees and other multi-professional staff & even lead on service design and development to help with establishing pre-operative patient assessment.
