The population served is in excess of 330,000 for elective services, 400,000 for non-elective services and 900,000 for Primary PCI. Much of the hospital is of recent construction with many new developments being undertaken and there are excellent laboratory and radiological facilities on site. There is a new Ambulatory Care Unit, Cardiac Centre and Foundation Wing, housing cardiology, paediatrics and intensive care. Kettering is part of the Trent Region and the hospital has well-developed links with Leicester Medical School with Affiliated Teaching Hospital status, receiving medical students, foundation, core and specialty trainees.

In fact, there have been recent developments within this trust with funding to boost this trust. These include: £4.7m Cardiac Centre and a 24/7 Primary PCI for the region, £2m Development of urgent care including Ambulatory care and observation bay, £18m Short Stay Surgery Centre - The Treatment Centre, £3.4m refurbishment of the Pathology Department, £4.7m refurbishment of wards to provide same sex accommodation and single rooms, A new, purpose built Outpatient Centre with excellent clinical facilities & a £30m extension to the main hospital, offers increased ICU/HDU, paediatric inpatient/outpatient facilities and an adolescent unit.

The appointee will have the opportunity to manage Head Neck cancer patients through the regional Head Neck Cancer MDT.
