Triple West Medical have been appointed by an NHS organisation based in SW Scotland to help recruit a Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology for a substantive post, but will also consider a Locum Fixed Term Contract for 12 Months minimum.
The NHS Trust delivers integrated acute and community health services to a population of around 350,000 across multiple sites with over 8,000 staff.
They are based in Scotland's south west region with scenic coastline and close proximately to Glasgow. There is an active postgraduate programme in the local Deanery and consultants are encouraged to participate in teaching activities for the specialty trainees.
he Consultant-led Outpatient Service is based in the Diabetes Day Centre. The Diabetes Team have developed a range of patient focused services using extended scope practices involving nursing, dietetic, pharmacy and podiatry staff, in addition to the more traditional Consultant led clinics in order to comply with standards of care as laid down by the Diabetes Framework and NHS Quality Improvement.
The post-holders can expect to see a wide and unfiltered range of clinical presentations. The service functions as an integrated team and all members contribute towards the provision of out-patient and in-patient care. The duties of the posts are purposefully biased towards the provision of specialist out-patient activity in Endocrinology & Diabetes. The posts also include an ongoing rotational commitment to the supervision of an 8-bedded in-patient Diabetes & Endocrinology Acute Assessment area, receiving duties in the Combined Assessment Unit and participation in the out of hours general medical on-call rota (1:7 weekends and 1:21 nights). Dynamic investigations and other day case activities are supported by the Medical Day Unit.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Delivery of high quality, efficient and responsive clinical care to the patients
- Responsibilities for carrying out teaching, accreditation and examination duties as required, and for contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. The post holder will be expected to comply with College recommendations on Continuing Medical Education
- The successful applicant will be encouraged to participate in research and to develop a relevant subspecialty interest, subject to resources and local priorities
- Requirements to participate in medical audit and in continuing medical education
- Managerial, including budgetary, responsibilities (where appropriate).
